Pentimento XVII — Pas de Deux in Ochre. Two dancers turn together against a warm tonal ground, their bodies woven from ochre fibre and pale gauze, their heads rising like seed-heads above the swirl of their skirts. The pairing introduces a new register to the series — not the solitary figure, but the duet: two presences caught in the same gesture, held for an instant in the weather of their turning. Printed on acrylic glass, the work acquires the depth the digital origin cannot hold: the ochres warm, the translucent skirts hold the light, and the burnt ground recedes into space. What remains is the pentimento — the first gesture, still visible through the matter that now carries it.

The aim is not reproduction but re-authoring: the image enters matter, gains light, depth, and surface, and becomes something a screen cannot hold.
